Cytokeratin 8 is an intermediate filament protein that typically pairs with cytokeratin 18 to form part of the cytoskeletal network in simple epithelial cells. It is expressed on the surface of intact hepatocytes, hepatocellular carcinoma cells, and certain breast cancer cells. Antibodies specific to cytokeratin 8 can be used to identify and study these cell types in both research and diagnostic applications.
