Hen egg-white lysozyme (HEL) is a glycosidase that functions both as an antibiotic against Gram positive bacteria as well as a nutrient in early embryogenesis. The protein irreversibly inhibits a transpeptidase enzyme required for bacterial cell wall synthesis.
The antigen for this antibody is purified HEL (hen egg-white lysozome). The antibody was purified by ion-exchange chromatography.
Reported to be effective for ELISA.
