Description

CD4 is a cell-surface glycoprotein found on mature helper T-cells, immature thymocytes, monocytes, and macrophages. Some cytotoxic T-cells express CD4 as well. The T-cell population in normal blood is approximately 65% CD4+. A mature T-cell expresses either CD4 or CD8, but not both. During an early stage of development T-cells have both CD4 and CD8 receptors but are differentiated in the thymus.

Mouse anti-human CD4 is conjugated to FITC and purified by ion exchange chromatography. The protein concentration is 1 mg/ml in PBS after reconstitution.

Reported to be effective as a blocking and staining antibody. Blocks binding of HIV to CD4.
