Akt is also known as protein kinase B (PKB). It is an important molecule in mammalian cellular signaling. It inhibits apoptotic processes and is involved in cellular survival pathways. It also induces protein synthesis pathways.
AKT1 (PKB alpha) is a kinase from the Akt, which is responsive to the cell activation. The anti-akt antibodies were raised with a peptide based on sequence of human PKB C-terminal and affinity purified with the same peptide on agarose. This antibody will recognize PKB alpha. May cross-react with the other members of the PKB family.
